Oof. One of these days I'll have a nice one for you, I promise.

But today for , I have a news brief that ties together some of what I've been reporting on all year: the consistently grim findings of our international bodies when it comes to climate change readiness.

We need to do more--but *will* we? Can this latest heat wave finally, finally, finally be enough?

@MLClark I don't know what we do about our inability to hold on to a sense of urgency. When the skies and our lungs were filled with smoke, we were distressed about climate change. But a few days of clear skies and lungs and we're back to business as usual. A million sighs.

I fear this is part of the reason people champ for war, or intifada, or other forms of societal breakdown; we just don't have a robust enough vocabulary for everyday revolution by more democratic means.

France is doing tremendous things right now, for instance, but when so many folks are terrified of falling further behind on bills & professional duties, leaping into further uncertainty seems unconscionable.

We need more local support networks to dream up the agency for bigger change.

@MLClark Mmmm, yes, yes, and yes. Every day economic and personal challenges make it hard to concentrate on big picture environmental concerns for most people; and I know that making big change about individual choices takes the heat off the real culprits. I hope we have time create the new vocabulary and social networks you're dreaming of -- and creating.
