A kindred spirit! Thus far I've only known a few folks who've read the funeral oration and Melian dialogue as standalone texts. But oh, it's just wonderfully rich, insightful work when read in full, no? So many key details about life in another era - and also, about how little human behaviour, in politics as in war, has changed in all that time.
@MLClark Yes! And to see the development of the historian, beyond Herodotus as reporter. It's a text to which i hope to return.
