Morning lovely people--& 👋 to the gargoyles among us, too.

I'm just heading out for a walk to catch up on messages.

Here's this week's , which uses the framing device of my early atheist exposure to the Bible (I read voraciously while young) to reflect on the complexity of moral calls to care for one another, even at extreme personal cost.

This will be my final major update on César's family. Thank you to everyone for helping.

Back to literary work next. 🤞

@MLClark "We want clear, feel-good signs of having made a difference. What we don’t want is to be dragged into a misery that seems without end."

This is spot on.

Individual dramas are a quagmire. We prefer institutional giving to avoid this.

For instance, MSF.

@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN MSF is a wonderful organization - one of the three I promote at the end of every newsletter! If you donate to them, too - or to others! - thank you. And thank you for reading. Hope this found you at a good moment in your own life.

@MLClark we are monthly ongoing donors to MSF, and support children through Compassion International.

We joyfully pay our taxes in support of the greater good.

More to your piece, we support my octogenarian mother. Being constantly needed is exhausting.

@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN

Thank you for everything your family does for others, SAM. Not only does the funding and immediacy of care improve the lives of many folks near and far - but so too does the knowledge of your hard, often thankless work in progress.

It helps others remember that they're not alone in pursuing similar. It certainly lifted my heart today. Happy Sunday.
