I want to rant so badly and openly about my home insurance. I need to be vague though.
2019 storm damage in November but they couldn’t safely do inspections until late Jan 2020. Said they would replace my roof but not cover the water damage. Then changed it to patch roof right before everything in my state went into lockdown for Covid. I paid someone to patch everything it could possibly be. Planned to fight it when it opened again.
The opposite is either no insurance or state-run insurance, and things run by government are subject to funding and changes by politicians.
Well, regulated insurance works. It even works where they state covers basic medical. I think insurance for an expat in Spain (they make you buy insurance to live there since you are not eligible for govt funded healthcare) is like 140 bucks /month.
@justsaywhy @Lulz4l1f3 I wouldn’t even care if it was ran by a purple alien from Mars. If they would just hold up to the insurance contract and fix my house I’d be thrilled.
oh, lord. homeowner's insurance is a pain if you try to file a claim sometimes, Worse are the contractors the try to steer you toward,
you have my sympathies.
Even countries that have robust non-profit health insurance still have for profit insurance that you can buy.
@Lulz4l1f3 @SatuUnelmia
Actually, there are other options. One is to require all insurance be not-for-profit
But, seriously, federal insurance can't be any worse than what we, in the US, have now
