A PC game I've played on/off for 25 years has gotten a number of facelifts recently. Ceasar III has been greatly redone (Windows/Linux/Android/Mac) with a open source upgrade called Augustus. Version 4.0 took some big leaps - someone even redid the original campaign with the new game in mind calling it 'Campaign Reconquered'.
