@WordsmithFL @LnzyHou My mom designed the house we lived in an uncle built it. It had an odd feature reminiscent of that time. A small bomb shelter behind a metal door in the back of a closet was maybe 6'x6' with 4ft ceiling. Only ever used for indoor hide and seek games.

@Lucky188 Bomb shelters were not uncommon. Once in a while I hear about homes around here (Brevard County, FL) that have a shelter.
