@okika_hilo How did you ask Alexa that?
@okika_hilo Thank you so much!! I think weโre living in the upside down. Nothing makes sense.
@okika_hilo It seems, all I do is resist. Though, my sister gave me the echo dot thing with Alexa, despite my protestations. I keep her in my bedroom and use her as an alarm clock and a radio. I donโt talk much in my bedroom, so she doesnโt hear much from me.
@LindaGoodliffe i have friends that use different services but it just creeps me out. Voice activated means that the device is always listening. Where does all of that audio data go? No thanks. It's just creepy with zero user control or corp accountability. @okika_hilo
@Ironworker229 @LindaGoodliffe Exactly why I won't use Siri on my laptop or 'Dear Google' on my Android. I'm pretty sure my smart TV listens to me even when it's off, but I can't prove it.
@okika_hilo @Ironworker229 @LindaGoodliffe I was fortunately able to separately refuse the voice recognition user agreement on my LG but still use the TV otherwise. I don't even like being in a home with an Alexa (my sister in law has one and if it did listen all the time, it could associate my name with my voice based on conversations even though I've never given license myself).
@Ironworker229 @okika_hilo This makes sense.
@LindaGoodliffe
I would never have one of those devices in my house. I got a news notification on my phone about this. I immediately & disgustedly deleted it. Now I wish I had noted the source. You can probably find it on a search engine.
