I think I’ve reached that age where I just plain can’t work in jobs I hate anymore. Not for more than a day. I just can’t. However, I will work myself to the bone doing what I love to do.

@LindaGoodliffe Welcome to ADHD. Sounds like a late onset variant!
But seriously, this is what ADHD is like: Zero tolerance for hated subject matter.

@hoovomoondoe LOL, true! However, that tendency gets worse with age. I was diagnosed as a kid in the ‘70’s, but they thought we grew out of it so I had no idea what was wrong with me (I used to cry in the library in front of my textbooks) - until I was diagnosed again at age 28.

@LindaGoodliffe

I hear you. I worked for a Temp agency for 2.5 yrs. Horrible pay, but, I loved that it was, well, "temporary." My personal rule: I'd do just about anything for up to 3 days. Longer stints, I wanted something interesting, a short drive, & that I could wear somewhat casual clothing. My worst & best job was at an art conservation lab. (I'm an artist.) Super interesting & I learned a lot, but crazy, unethical people ran it. It was the only temp job I requested to be pulled from.

@CJP240 I went back to substitute teaching, but younger kids because I thought it would be more fun. I don’t want to say too much on social media, but it was a nightmare. Not only do I not want to go back, but I shouldn’t. As for temping, I did that for years. I have so many stories, as I’m sure you do too!

@CJP240 I was never the biggest fan of substitute teaching, but before the pandemic I thought it would lead to a permanent job. Now that I have a bakery and I’ve started to write again, I have zero interest in glorified babysitting for just 100 bucks a day. I made $150/day over 25 years ago as a temp in NJ.
