Yeah. This does make me think. And how we have to move away from these systems. But, until then?
@LiberalLibrarian Well given where I live I don't really have a choice but to buy on Amazon or drive a very long way 40-80km minimum to get any choice
@NorthernInvader @LiberalLibrarian Where I live, Amazon does not exist.
@LiberalLibrarian So, I cancelled WaPo yesterday, and we're heading down to Costa Rica in Nov. for our first winter this year, and Amazon is practically non-existent there, so it may be a rude, yet necessary break for us.
@LiberalLibrarian Amazon is so much more than a storefront. They need to be broken up, and Bezos can't remains majority shareholder in all the divested units.
@LiberalLibrarian too bad Sears crashed and burned all those years ago. It would have been a viable option for those of us in rural areas...hell, it WAS the Amazon-like vendor for many ruralites.
@joycereynoldsward @LiberalLibrarian
Their biggest competitor is Wal-Mart on line, and I suspect Bezos knows he'd lose MAGA customers to Wal-Mart very easily. Harris voters probably like Wal-Mart even less than Amazon.
@LiberalLibrarian
We live in a rural area 1Β½ hours from a decent sized city. If we don't use amazon, we have to either go without or pay shipping costs for everything we purchase online; that can get really expensive when you're buying things for eight people. I'm also concerned about the jobs of the people working there. Where are they supposed to work if we stop shopping there & they lose their income? Are the people who want to do this ready to support other families?
