Now, I've always wondered this, and I'm asking UK CoSo for input. Why do commentators have this setup with the handheld microphones, rather than a combination headphone/mic?
@InvaderGzim I was wondering about that gear, I could use it for my videos to block the wind distorting my audio!

Have you tried a standard foam wind screen??
@InvaderGzim no, I'm pretty broke. I just use the mic on my device.

They speak into the box to shield the crowd noise...
They don't sit in boxes like US announcers do... They sit either near the maybe even within... Or up in the rafters...
But with directional mics... I'm thinking it's what they've always fine and still do...
