How much Black history did you really learn in school? I’m 52, grew up in predominately White town, and I learned so little from my teachers and text books (and what I did learn was almost entirely whitewashed). What was your experience?

@Reckoner Learned the basics about the Civil War in school, but probably learned a lot from watching Roots and the Diary of Miss Jane Pitman. Recently I read Cyrus McQueen's "Tweeting Truth to Power" and "The Underground Railroad", ? Author? both excellent and thought provoking.
