So local news is doing a story about a guy with gang affiliations who, as a passenger during a traffic stop, pulled a gun on and shot at police. Police shot back and he was put in custody. HOWEVER, his hospital bill for injuries sustained during arrest (bullet wounds) is now being charged to tax payers. The bill was already negotiated in half to 1/4 mill.
To have to pay for the hospital bill of a gang member in custody who shot at police. Is that weird?
@ParanoidAndroid I think the price tag is why this is making headlines. I wrestled with this whole thing because if someone gets tackled and suffers a broken arm, it's business as usual.
Attempted murder of a cop just amplifies the story. Someone in govt was dreading this week from the beginning, knowing all of this would be public.
