The part of baseball I don't understand:

The presumed NL Cy Young winner brought his ERA down to 1.70 while facing only one more than the minimum and notching his 1000th career strike out is taken out to start the 9th. We're at home and the season ends Sunday. I just don't get it.

@L_D_G Pitch count was high, he didn't need a complete game to strengthen his Cy Young case, and stats/metrics are ruining the game.

In related news, get of my lawn you lousy kids!

@djmpb His last appearance for the year, 25 guys in 8 innings and a pitch count near 110. I know he didn't need anything else to boost his Cy Young argument, but when you're that close and that good and the season is done...why not put a bow on it?

@SuperDuke @L_D_G this is mind blowing. The fact he never gave up nore than 4 runs all year. Wow.

@SuperDuke @djmpb yeah, it's brutal. If we won 75% of his games, we'd actually be in contention. Whatever. A final Wright start and a Cy Young will have to do.

Go Rockies, A's, Brewers, and Indians (why not?)

@SuperDuke @djmpb the other factor here that is not run support is how many runs the bullpen gave up after him.

@L_D_G agree, it would have been yhe perfect way for him to round out the season.
