From what i have heard in the hearings the Board of Regents and everyone involved just hated the fact he did porn films as chancellor, but never really gave a legal reason why. So it might be a #1A issue

there is a small group of religious catholic fundies in LaCrosse that fought against a ban on Conversion therapy, and mask mandates. and regularly protests abortions. Small but noisy
