Gag order could have been illegal if it barred Trump from mentioning Candidate Pence and his policies, clear free speech violation
When Pence dropped out he became just a witness, and gained the status of being a protected witness to prevent a mistrial.

Pence's campaign is literally mentioned in the gag order as an exception. Which part was MADE irrelevant when he stopped his campaign AFTER the gag order was issued but BEFORE the motion to stay was denied

Pence is named in the gag order. That.. AT THE TIme... Pence was still running and specially said Trump could mention his policies or campaign.
