This is a long standing issue since The GOP started gerrymandering safe Red leaning districts as an attempt to maintain power. What it really has done is prevented moderate candidates from even winning a primary as the more extreme candidates win instead. Than when the State wide General elections come, the Moderate voters flee the Republican candidates
They can win State legislators, and maybe the US house with this strategy, and it isn't enough
@Kinnison We saw this last cycle, too. While being an anti-trans bigot will get you in good with the GOP base, in the general, it's a losing issue.
I've even seen a few polls suggesting it's increasingly a losing issue among Republican voters!
