#Politics Senator Ted Cruz is indeed a public figure and his children are not. While the request made for privacy by the media seems reasonable, given the circumstances, it is also problematic in a “what’s good for the goose is good for the gander” cliché when reviewing the numerous hateful attacks that Cruz has made on LGBTQ+ youth, their parents, and the LGBTQ+ community.

All which is applicable, yet given Senator Cruz’s bombastic hateful public attacks on LGBTQ people, and the very fact that Caroline Cruz went viral in early 2022 thanks to a TikTok post, (it should be noted she took her channel private afterwards) where she explained she disagrees with her father’s political stances on “almost everything” and also complained about her lack of privacy: “I literally have to have security following me everywhere.”

Okay, give Ted #Cruz a pass and wish his family well for his daughter's tragic issues. And yet it's come to light that Ted never went home to be with his daughter, and chose to stay in Washington instead.
Am I an asshole for thinking this sucks?
FYI, i was a teen. I wanted to commit suicide. My parents yelled and screamed at me and made me feel worthless sometimes. But they would NEVER ignore me when I was hurting, in prison, or in the hospital
@Kinnison Ted Cruz, Abbot, and the rest of the fascist- Christian Nationalist regime are indeed responsible for the wave of hate setting US back damn near 70 years!
@Kinnison
Raphael is garbage
#politics Estimates that more than 1.8 million LGBTQ youth (13-24) seriously consider suicide each year in the U.S. — and at least one attempts suicide every 45 seconds.
According to the survey, 45% of LGBTQ youth seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year.
More than 60% of LGBTQ youth said their home wasn’t affirming, the survey found. Nearly 2 in 5 LGBTQ youth said they lived in a community that wasn’t accepting of LGBTQ people
