The #TwelveTribes believes that God intentionally gave children to a particular set of parents, and the state should not interfere even if there is mistreatment. The manual states, “When we see a child receive what we consider mistreatment from such parents, we must remember that God is in control and has chosen ... 4/?

to place the soul life of that child under those parents, specifically” (27). So, for them, cooperating with the state to remove a child is to deny God’s sovereignty and go against His will. In this regard, any state that interferes with parents raising their children is moving towards totalitarianism.
