too many knobs for me....and the first couple of years, the knobs were clean--too many switches, so Vox started engraving the controls so you could figure out what the hell was going on.

Retrofret.com says, "The Phantom XII Stereo has one of the most cluttered facades ever offered to guitarists -- it features three special double-coil Vox pickups used only on this model. These are not humbuckers but have a separate half-coil on each side for the treble and bass strings."

@northernbassist I play a Hagstrom 12-string myself, and I'm above-average knowledgeable about 12-strings, but this is the first I've ever heard of this one.

Vox had all kinds of weirdos in the 60s. I've only seen a couple, and no other 12 strings

@northernbassist I remember Phil Volk of Paul Revere and the Raiders playing a bass with a similar shape. Just looked it up, and it was a Vox Phantom IV.
