So my kidā€™s Yoto audio player had a voluntary recall due to the battery overheating in some devicesā€”not ours. Their solution is a ā€œsmart charging cableā€ (went from usb-c to a proprietary cable) so we got our ā€œsmart cableā€ and now the device battery capacity has been cut in half. The company has a 2 yr replacement policy of equal or greater value. I donā€™t want to throw a stink about the cable but I also do because we didnā€™t have any problems with this device until we got it.

My 2 cents, switch back to the first cable and maybe restrict usage to times you can monitor it.
