Advice I was given:
1. follow accounts whose content you like (if you're not followed back don't take it personally)
2. join an ongoing convo
3. #s don't mean anything here
4. Coso is what YOU make for yourself, customization is key
5. Make columns of interest to you, you can add more than 1 #tag to a column!
6. Set up filters for content you don't want, time them from 1/2 hour to forever.

There are hashtags of all sorts. You can even pin a column with those who will become your closest friends.
One of my fav hashtags is #csgn coso good news, it really warms my heart when I need it... Depending on your interests, just chat, get into convos, you'll make friends in no time :-)

You can try making a post with the hashtag introduction and hashtag meetthenauts (we are called cosonauts 🙂) and include interesting things about yourself.
Just start talking to people here and the connections will come before you know it.
And welcome!
You can search for an @name if you have an idea what their handle is.
Or, make new friends and follow anyone who is posting stuff you like in the Firehose. They'll show up in your Friends feed.
If you see a hashtag on a topic you're interested in, click on it and see who else is in the conversation. They can be new follows too.
@Jud_Hansell I'm fairly new here and found friends by commenting on their posts etc. Went well for a while but then I stopped getting any comments back. My photography is my passion and I posted regularly but have given up and hardly ever post. Will still read other members posts though. It's all trial and error I guess. It's a nice place here so give it time. Wishing you well.
@Jud_Hansell I think I found people to follow from the Community Firehose to start with. Then I saw hashtags they posted about shared interests, which led me to more posts by other people and it just kinda snowballs from there..
