At the risk of using logic to explain anything Trump does one has to wonder what the actual endgame is for the Gaetz nomination. Sure his leaving the House might squash his ethics report, but a full blown confirmation hearing would certainly not be a good look for him. #politics

I don’t think there will be confirmation hearings. All will slide through when the new GOP-led Senate calls a recess before the inauguration. Gaetz is universally disliked on a non-partisan basis so I expect the Ethics report will find its way into the public square. It will be interesting to see how DOJ, DOD, Intelligence civil servants handle their new overlords.
