@John_Ripley when i posted this on fb, someone replied they had deducted their student loans. i checked his page & he's obviously someone that attended college in the early/mid 70s, which means a) college was a LOT cheaper, & b) personal loan interest, like a college loan, WAS still deductible (Credit card interest and other forms of personal interest were deductible on income taxes some years ago, but Congress eliminated those deductions in the Tax Reform Act of 1986.)
