So I grew up an “arcade rat”. I spent a lot of time in arcades or around arcade games from when I was 8 years old (1980) right on through the 1990s.

I came from a single-parent (mom) household and we were *poor*. I was lucky to have four quarters a week to spend… so I often looked in coin returns to see if any stray quarters were in there.

Some arcade employees got to know me and popped in a couple of credits after emptying coin boxes.

Such was life back then.
