I was ruminating on how conversations can go off the rails, and one thing I'm still sort of coming to terms with is that I'm not going to be everyone's cup of tea, That's understandable; probably healthy, even. The only way to never piss people off is to never put yourself out there or never have strongly held opinions and beliefs.

It really does make me a little sad, though. It isn't so much I want to be liked by everyone, as I really enjoy talking to people even if I don't agree with them.

I think this is all something our current reality has made a lot more difficult.

@beckness It really is. It used to be ok to disagree with people and just have a discussion about different perspectives. Civil discourse gets thrown out of the window as soon as people find out that you don't agree. All of a sudden you are the enemy. It's pretty bad and I believe it will get worse.
