This is the modern “musical” equivalent of share buybacks and dividends — you’ve played the “market” and defrauded the purchasing public by conjuring a big nothing in the commercial realm. It’s why stock buybacks were illegal until Reagan. Moreover — in the realm of arts, artists are presumed to produce “art” and given “acceptable” means of promotion…said art is placed before the masses for “approval.” NOT BOTS presumably rigged to drive the market for said “artist.”
Headline is pretty accurate — he created fake bands, and then generated income via bots. Blatant fraud. See that ATM/check scam bullshit recently.
So yes, do androids dream of art with electric sheep? We could have this argument and most likely will before sus bounty hunters track down “skin jobs” tired of being exploited on Earth and in space. That said, the previous example is blatant fraud and market manipulation.
