The Supreme Court has gone rogue. We are in a full-blown Constitutional crisis. Congress must act. And we must pressure Congress to act, while it still can.

I thought hard before saying it. I’m sorry to cause you distress, but the EPA ruling and the Courts willingness to review the independent state legislature doctrine are fundamental attacks on our government.

The court took power on itself to review laws. Congress can limit that power whenever it wishes.

We are still , and for at least two more years, the power of the federal government will not be used to silence us. There is still time to right this

WVa v. EPA is out.

It's by ROBERTS... not Gorsuch. Which means it's still a dumpster fire opinion, but likely does not take down the entire administrative state with it.

6-3. No mention of Chevron!

🚨ALERT: "Today, the U.S. Supreme Court granted a Republican petition out of North Carolina focused on the state’s congressional map, opening up review on the radical independent state legislature (ISL) doctrine during the Court’s next term."

Slavery, segregation, voting rights, gerrymandering and abortion all have one thing in common:

“States rights.”

Since the first draft of the constitution, “Leave it up to the states” has been code for “Leave it up to the racists.”

My new one @Slate: It’s Hard to Overstate the Danger of the Voting Case the Supreme Court Just Agreed to Hear

slate.com/news-and-politics/20

@Jezibaba
This was already decided by North Carolina’s highest court. They have NO BUSINESS taking this on.

@Jezibaba
It’s a theory that would benefit gerrymandering.

@Jezibaba @GaladaLisi Just in time for the 2022 elections predicted to lead to a GOP supermajority in the state legislature. 😡

@Jezibaba The justices all have net worths of around $1-2 million, not counting spouses (Ginni has about $78 million). If we were doing our job of eating the rich, they'd be included.

Nothing to say we couldn't start with them, as an appetizer, on our way to the main course of Musk, Zuckerberg, Gates, Bezos, etc.

@nblumengarten I like the way you're thinking. Iron Chef using all of the cuts. I imagine slow cook stews and roasts are probably on Deck because that's some old meat

@Jezibaba No one said it would be easy or pleasant. An Iron Chef approach is a good one.

@Jezibaba
This is why it it is so important to codify rights into law so they can be constitutionally protected.

It’s time for democrats to destroy the filibuster while we hold the majority.

@Jezibaba
Too many ifs and not enough aggressive action. The Democrats need to learn how to fight back. The old rules have changed.

@GaladaLisi we need to vote younger people into Congress

@Jezibaba
There needs to be more of a balance for sure. Some of these older, lifelong Democrats seem unwilling to step up with the boldness necessary to protect our democracy. We need a better mix, some to push forward and some to keep us from stepping into the extremes that the Republicans have embraced.

@Jezibaba I typo’d earlier and said Supremacist Court. I left it because it’s fitting.
