Currently, nine large fires have burned 583,568 acres in five states. More than 6,100 support personnel are assigned to #wildfires across the country. Eight Type 1 and Type 2 incident management teams and one complex incident management team are assigned to large fires in the Southwest, Rocky Mountain, and Southern areas.
To date humans have caused 25,397 wildfires that burned 1,764,137 acres. Lightning accounts for 1,009 wildfires and 15,853 acres burned.

@Jezibaba Those humans weren’t listening during fire safety in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, apparently.
We’re supposed to throw sand on entire fire foundation first, then water until no embers can be seen. We’re then to pour another bucket full of water on it. Carefully put hand close to surface. If you feel no heat radiating, touch to make sure it’s not giving off heat. Sprinkle water on hot spots as needed. Repeat until entire fire pit is checked. #FireSafety
