Elephant Nature Park
Chiang Mai, Thailand
With over 120 elephants currently living chain free, Lek and Derrick also rescue dogs, cats, and other animals in need. Naturally, they need help.
In their time of need
Over this awful period so many have suffered and our elephants have been caught up in the middle of all this. It is very hard to keep them fed and pay for the veterinary care that so many of them need.
When Faa Mai was a baby, she'd demand Lek sing her lullabies.
LONELY NO MORE: A YEAR AFTER HIS SENSATIONAL RESCUE, ELEPHANT KAAVAN IS THRIVING IN THE CAMBODIAN JUNGLE
In November 2020, global animal welfare organisation FOUR PAWS together with the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB), the national authorities and pop icon Cher, rescued him from a sad and lonely life at a rundown zoo in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad. Prior to his rescue, the 36-year-old former ‘loneliest elephant in the world’ spent eight years by himself
Derrick had been in Cambodia helping set up an enclosure for Kaavan, an elephant rescued from a horrific existence in a zoo. He'd been gone for 14 months. This is when he returned and called out to his girl, Kham La upon his return. They share a very special relationship.
