Conservatives, Libertarians, and anarcho-capitalists all seem to think that, despite all of the evidence of history, charity can sufficiently handle poverty, the disabled, the elderly, and all of the others in our society who need help. They also don't seem to understand the concept of diffusion of responsibility - "Someone should help the needy, but not me and not with my money!"

Either that or they just honestly don't care and/or don't understand how helping the poor helps the rest of society, even those at the top, in very real ways.
