I have read that nowadays the way to kill information is not to hide it, but to drown it in disinformation...
But for that to work, there needs to be a demand for disinformation... Otherwise it won't reach the echo chambers we tend to build around ourselves in the web...
@JebKFan I disagree. If the web is being indexed by algorithms which don't know better, nobody needs to be seeking disinformation; they will be served it regardless.
