If I may, as a black woman, ...people in my family DIED by the hands of the KKK spreading lies. People here are being threatened by the Klick Klux Klan today.. this is nothing to meme at.. it ain't funny, I mean videos of DANCING with dogs and cats ... really???
in my imo.. just be glad that white folk are FINALLY finding out the direct danger of racism.
@JazzCrafter It's gross
@poemblaze It is also a good thing that white people FINALLY witness the Klick Klux Klan in action! We *non* whites have suffered this for generations.
@JazzCrafter This was back in the early 20th century, probably 1900-1960s.
This town was a sundown town. My great uncle said during the great depression a black man came up to him and said he hadn't eaten in three days. My great uncle was ashamed to say he was afraid to FEED the man because of what others would think. He said if the man had come to the door at his farm... So wretched what we do to one another.
@poemblaze thank you, Matt! newsflash.. a lot of counties in OHIO, including the area that Vance comes from.. ARE STILL SUNDOWN AREAS.. we STILL.. to this day.. travel with much caution through them.. it is well known amongst us "non-whites.." proof: This was LAST YEAR!! https://apnews.com/article/police-dog-attack-traffic-stop-circleville-ohio-9cde85629aa22f75520025706fdc4ffc
@JazzCrafter In my town some people still have the view that this should be a sundown town, flat racists. Others are more 21st Century, multiculturally minded. So a person of color is basically playing Russian roulette when coming here. I think the highly racist group of people is getting smaller, but I couldn't begin to suggest a percentage.
@JazzCrafter Indeed. The parallels to blood libel are obvious, with similar fatal consequences.
@JazzCrafter Important point. I'm having as much fun as most laughing at the weirdness, but some of this stuff is too serious to be funny. We can't forget there are real people suffering real consequences in this.
@JazzCrafter My best friend grew up as a Lithuanian/Italian Catholic about 100 mi. south of here. The klan was still very active there. A cross was burned on their lawn. But the experience of African Americans was/is infinitely worse.
