In September, I filled a vacant position to be a Crossing Guard for the town at a crosswalk beside the local elementary school in town.

Just when I thought I annoyed all the kids who crossed at my crosswalk, a whole class of them got together and made cards and notes with words of kindness and appreciation for what I do.

The general sentiment was 'thank you for keeping us safe', and 'your smile starts my day on a good note', among other things like that. I'm still touched by it all.
