In case anyone was wondering where I've been, or why I've not been active, my cousin Jimmy Lewis was diagnosed with End Stage Cancer which has been found on his pancreas, liver I think and his lungs. They're still not sure the primary site/source, but say that it was from chemicals he worked around as maintenance for heavy machinery.
46 years old, he has 3 kids. Jimmy has been a hard worker his whole life. I've been doing a bottle drive for him and this past weekend two yard sales and a raffle
So I was going to post some paintings for sale for the price of donation to add to the #DriveForJimmy , but I ended up not bothering with that. I had no idea how much it would cost to ship, and then that would make the price donation + cost of shipping.
All in all, with the bottle drive, yard sales and two raffles done, we still did fairly well, although not nearly as much as I would have liked it to be. I wish I could have done more.
My father and I went to present the donation and card to
Jimmy and his mother, since his wife nor kids were there.
Sad all around. Everyone copes & grieves in their own way, but I just pray the family comes together through this. I just hope those kids truly know how loved they are even from family they hardly know.
I wish God would take his pain away and heal him, but Jimmy is fading. Jimmy's in palliative care and isn't expected to make it back home, although he was able to wake up for the presentation of card and gift.
My heart breaks for him.
Oh no, Iโm so sorry ๐๐
Your work on his and his familyโs behalf is beautiful and no doubt comforting in a time of such sorrow and stress
@Minholkin thank you so much! And I hope so. His wife is not in the best health state herself, and for a long time it was her they all worried about, until this happened.
Now we all just want for the best possible quality of life for the 5 of them. Especially Jimmy who has always worked hard for his family.
:( Iโm so sorry, ๐ #fuckcancer

@Armchaircouch thank you ๐๐๐
keep us posted if you open up a digital online donation platform, โฅ๏ธ
My heart and thoughts are with your family, @Jax_Wild_4_Life
@Armchaircouch they have a Go Fund Me account set up for him already, but Go Fund Me takes 20% of all monies raised
@Jax_Wild_4_Life
๐ง Hopefully they were able to make peace before this stage. It is the hardest on your loved ones.
You and your dad are what I call earth angels. I met many along our journey. You are critical to survivors๐ค
@damselfly59 thank you so much. It was actually my father, uncle and I, but my uncle couldn't bring himself to join us for the presentation. My grandfather (my mother and uncle's father) died of cancer when they were young too.
My uncle, John Ryan, is the one who does bottle drives and fundraisers for various people usually going through cancer, but some other hardships too ... his next bottle drive is for someone who lost their leg to diabetes. He is well experienced in fundraising for sure.
Oh my god, I am so sorry for you and your family. ๐
@Jene_Sais_Quoi thank you so much! ๐๐๐
@Jax_Wild_4_Life Iโm so sorryโฆ Have you considered an on-line fundraiser?
@j0n there is a Go Fund Me account set up for Jimmy and family, but Go Fund Me takes 25% of monies raised.
Soon, I will be posting paintings for sale that my mother did as an up & coming artist for the price of donations plus shipping.
@Jax_Wild_4_Life I never realized it was that much! ๐
@j0n yeah I heard the fee was only 5%, but when we figured out $4 from every $20 ... that's actually 20% sorry, not 25% ... but still pretty high imo ...
When I post the paintings for sale, I will do so on #CoSo first and then the other sites. Donations will be based on "pay what you want, take what you want", which is what we did for all items at the yardsale held over the weekend. All proceeds go to my cousin and his family
@Jax_Wild_4_Life Iโm so terribly sorry. ๐
@misslovelymess thank you ๐๐๐
*hugs to you, Jimmy, and your families*
@misterfive thank you ๐๐๐
@Jax_Wild_4_Life I am so sorry to read this. You have a lot of your plates. Sending love and very best wishes.
@homebird thank you very much ๐๐๐
The doctors gave him two months to live two different times, which is confusing to hear, but basically the understanding is, it's just a matter of time now.
@Jax_Wild_4_Life Ach, I'm so sorry for your family.
@rpardee thank you so much ๐๐๐
@Jax_Wild_4_Life
Very sad. I am so sorry.
@realDDGlover thank you so much. It was everything within me not to break down and cry in front of him ... he's the one dying so young with his mother beside him, spoon feeding him when he *can* eat ... everything within me not to cry in front of the both of them... we do what we can, but sometimes it just doesn't feel like enough ... no amount of money can replace a life.
@Jax_Wild_4_Life
My heart goes out to you and your family. Thanks for keeping us updated.
@realDDGlover thank you so much!! ๐๐๐
Raising money for Jimmy and his family. I never thought I'd be this young and see any of my cousins face a terminal illness. I am lost, so when I'm lost, I bury myself in work to help those in need when and where possible.
