When I left my last job, I gave myself a year to find a decent State job.
That year is over in 9 days, and I am STILL unemployed!
I've decided to just go "totally opposite" now, and I am applying for everything I see with a growing sense of unease and downright panic.
I have an interview tomorrow for a position as a late-night janitor at a school system nearby, wish me luck!

I had the last job for over 15 years, so the workforce has definitely shifted in how they recruit and hire since then...

I worked for 40 years, in the same industry but with 5 different companies in 2 states. It was the result of consolidation, with one company, the last I worked for, buying up the others and stripping them.
Times have definitely changed from the days I could just quit a job and find another in no time at all.
