Every November 10th my dad would call and wish me a "Happy Marine Corps birthday!" and we'd shoot the shit for a half hour or so.
I'd always give him extra time, you see, because he never remembered.
"Anything else you want to tell me, Dad?"
"No, I'll call you if something comes to me though..."
The USMC birthday is the 10th.
MY birthday is the following day [ALSO a major soldier's holiday.]
He never remembered!
