@JohnnyGenX The reason I'm so intense on the issue on #sexualviolence in prisons is that for more than a decade I've been invested in the release of an almost totally deaf man from prison.
His brother committed the murder and made a deathbed admission. But Felix "deaf nodded" his way into a life sentence.
It's a Florida case and they refuse to acknowledge the mistake. He's been raped many times. Denied hearing aids, etc.
I believe Felix will die in prison. He has a retired paralegal who has essentially adopted him and will provide him a home. He calls her his mother. There is no reason to keep him there. The two men involved in the murder have both made death bed confessions.
There is no justice for Felix. There is no justice for deaf prisoners. They're denied their most basic communication needs. Guards and prisoners alike abuse deaf prisoners.
