Talking to a friend about law school today I flashed on when I was working at a legal clinic as an intern law student.

I was called into court and a judge told me to represent a client. I told him, "I can't do that. I'm a student." He ordered me to represent the client.

I ended up practicing law without a license. The head of the clinic was not amused. I told her I was afraid he'd cite me for contempt if I refused.

The client won, so there was that, I suppose.

@J_Windrow i just started online classes at Georgetown Law this past September.
They waited until late mid July to decide to go with virtual learning this semester because of new cases of COVID-19.

@Darkenyght1701 I don't see why almost all of law school can't be done virtually. Except for arguing cases in moot court or doing research on Westlaw/Lexis in the law library most classes can be zoomed.

Yes, it helps to have someone to bounce ideas off while learning, but that's what study groups are for.

Be aware that they aren't going to teach you how to practice law, only how to pass the bar, essentially. Get every internship you can.

@J_Windrow I have my ex wife for trying this.
She was an AUSA for the EDVA until health issues forced her to retire early.
Back in '20, after the election, she said one time " you sound so much like a lawyer at times, you might as well get your JD".
We both laughed, and I thought she had been joking...until she started pushing me to take the LSAT
I finally gave in...and missed a perfect score by 5 points.
She got smug after that 😂
