Last night while researching my daughter's father's side of the family I stumbled over a few days old obituary for one of his sisters.

I was the one who told my daughter when I was notified he died. Last night I notified her that one of his sisters died.

Fortunately, they had minimal contact so it wasn't a huge shock.

This is what sometimes happens to people who do genealogy.

@J_Windrow Yes, it is. One of the weird ones I accidentally found was a miscarriage that would’ve meant another uncle or aunt for my husband. Apparently it was one of those family secrets.

@ATXJane No miscarriages have come up yet. However, the eldest child of my father's family died very young. However, we knew that.

Allegedly there was a non-marital child when my father was young. According to the legend he quit business school, ran away and joined the Navy.

We have DNA studies in a couple places and there are no connections that could be related to that child. If there was one and this wasn't a bogus story.

So many unprovable stories.
