4 Things Writers Get Wrong About Knights & Their Horses - (or that readers believe which ar false) mackenziekincaid.com/writing/h Thanks to movies by Lawrence Olivier, Mel Gibson, etc the nonsense people believe is mindboggling.

@JRTomlin I Interesting , but not entirely accurate from a horses of war breed history. Writers ought to do better research on what breeds were in use at what time and area and what parts of battlefields for sure but knights certainly rode draft horses but not all draft horses were massive giants and they were selectively bred with lighter more agile breeds ! horseyhooves.com/medieval-war-

@JRTomlin This one is more in depth . I've read so many stories that involve horses that have been so wrong because a writer skimped on getting accurate info about breeds , purposes,training and type of tack used ! As
horse person it always irked me when cowboy movies had natives riding with a blanket over a saddle or a bit that didn't exist on a medival horse !! deephollowranch.com/war-horse-

@JRTomlin

The late David Eddings, who wrote (occasionally) with his wife, Leigh, made it a point, as an intro to one of his books, to talk about encumbrance and the limitations imposed on knights and horses by the weight of heavy plate armour as well as things like broadswords and the like. He said that one of the failings of most fantasy books is that authors don't always consider those things when creating their worlds.
