How can it be that a convicted felon serving time is prohibited from voting, but a convicted felon is permitted to run for president, and serve as such while serving time?

It seems the Constitution was intentionally written to make the requirements for being president vague. Natural Born Citizen, Lived the past 14 years in the US, at least 35 years old. I think that's about it. I've also read the 14th amendment and, as much as I hate to say it, I do see the legal argument Trump's team is making. That doesn't mean I agree, but I see the argument.
