DOJ Wants to Suspend Constitutional Rights for Coronavirus Emergency – Rolling Stone

@Itsjustme
Been waiting for this.
There's the point that consequences have had to be inducted into the equation to make people behave in the interests of public good; and still some will not.
And then the point that it's been on the horizon that WH inaction had *reasons*, like this.

(let) chief judges indefinitely hold people without trial and suspend other constitutionally-protected rights during coronavirus and *other* emergencies

MR and all it takes is the WH declaring an emergency

This was first published yesterday. I read the original article and waited to see how Congress was going to react to it before sharing it.

There has been bipartisan criticism of the draft that was leaked that is semi heartening.

What worries me most is the deep damage that has been done by this administration to all of our agencies.

Dear leaders sycophants are still lock stepping with him.

@Itsjustme
Thanks for the update, which I think is cautiously encouraging.
I say that b/c all it takes is declaring a nat'l emergency for a lot of presidential powers to be exercised. The Patriot Act comes to mind; tho some of it was scaled back, some of it wasn't.
The deep damage to institutions and checks/balances is worrying. That the Senate continues to participate in shredding all of it doubly so.
