Lovely COSO geeky people, one of my (cough) adult children sent me a link to this app. Does anyone have a spare sandbox who is willing to find out what it would be sucking out of my phone for this 'free' money? *Nothing* is free, right? Too good to be true?
@RepentedHipster Yeah I lnow.
I'm stuck on free money is never free. Trying to find one of my old old phones to load this thing on and see what it really does.
Any other time the stupid phones would be falling out of drawers or something. 🤣🤣🤷♀️
@RepentedHipster @Itsjustme $ 0.02 a mile. On a busy day at my job i can put in 200 miles of driving. I could make that money back im gas with a tailwind.
No idea what data they are gathering and selling.
Hard pass. Not worth it
@Itsjustme
It's not as good as it sounds, and it needn't be any worse than it sounds.
They have sponsors. Sponsors offer discounts that you earn with your miles. It's not like they just start sending you cash. So if you use Tin Umbrella Coffee Roasters or you plan to switch to Progressive Insurance, it might save you a little money, but it will cost you the difference between what you earn driving and the actual cost of whan you buy.
@Itsjustme
The privacy policy says they don't share any information except at the point of sale, when they confirm the information like phone number that you give the vendor to claim your discount.
@Itsjustme There’s something troubling about an app that starts out, “THE ONLY TEXTING AND DRIVING SOLUTION THAT PAYS”.
