When I quit smoking, I tried chantix, it really didn't work for me. I mostly quit cold turkey. I kept doing things that I knew would trigger the desire so as to face my demons as they say.
I still tell people after 10 years smoke free that I didn't quit smoking, I am on a tax protest. I also found the "habits" worse than the addiction. I focused on what I would do with the saved money. Good luck, it's not easy.
@KGinKS Yeah I am not sure much will help at this point, I smoked cigarettes, then switched to vaping... I've tried the gum in the past and just didn't like it... so I think it's cold turkey for me too :( I'm hoping that switching to the lower nicotine levels for the last couple of months will make it bearable :(
Cold turkey is what worked for me. 20+ yrs ago. Can’t remember date/yr anymore.

I’ve had people get pissed w/me over my cold turkey story (the chef I used to work for, in particular); maybe it’s just me…😂
Loved smoking. Loved it so much I DREAMED about it. UNTIL one day (April ‘98) woke up, went outside for my first cig, popped one in mouth, lit it…”Wow, that tastes like shit! WTH?” Lit another and…nope, just awful.
Fell off the wagon a couple of times (a week here, a few days there) but it was never the same.
You can do it!

When you’re ready, you will. 👍
I just realized (duh) I’m STILL around people smoking and vaping — I work in a restaurant! 😂 The only time I remember to get pissy about it is if someone is taking too many smoke breaks! Seems like there was a WaPo article about cooks taking up smoking AGAIN to get such breaks…🤔😏
