Explosion in Ankara, Turkey. Reports of shots fired. The explosion took place outside Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc.

Some news sources are claiming suicide bomber, this is not confirmed. Some reports offer speculation, ignore them, that's not news.

We know the location, that there was an explosion, and reports of gunfire. The people who are tweeting right now aren't on-site. They don't have all the fact, that there hasn't been enough time to establish what happened.

*edit: removed because the news site reported from earlier in the ear, not today.

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya jumped on terrorism (it's too early to confirm): "A terrorist attack was carried out against the TUSAS facilities in Kahramankazan, Ankara. Unfortunately, we have martyrs and injured people," Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya

I don't open Twitter, the quote is from news sources, but they published it 20 minutes ago. I don't know when exactly he put this out, but we don't what happened *now*, much less then.

πŸ‘† "Authorities have not yet identified the perpetrators or provided details about the nature of the attack."

"Initial images shown by private NTV television channel showed a large cloud of smoke in front of the site's entrance some 40 kilometers outside the capital, saying the blast took place at around 4 pm (1300 GMT)."

It's been than an hour.

News who report like tabloidists and sports anchors drive me nuts. Politicians who try to garner favor and be the center of of tragedy piss me off.

Location wise, yes, given Tusas' business, of course investigators will consider terrorism as a likely motivator. An interior minister proclaiming that after 20-30 minutes? On SM? Fuck that guy. 😑

According to Turkish CNN, two are confirmed dead, several injured.

"There was no immediate claim for the attack.

"The blast occurred as a major trade fair for the defence and aerospace industries was taking place in Istanbul "[sentence removed due to speculative nature]

"Turkey's defence sector, which is widely known for its Bayraktar drones, accounts for nearly 80 percent of the nation's export revenues with revenues expected to top 10.2 billion dollars in 2023."

RTUK has put a ban broadcasting the news from this attack, attempting to stop speculation and take control of the situation. The aim is for the information to come solely from the authorities.

@Rocker Yeah, I'm sure a ban on news stories will stop people from speculating and coming up with their own theories. No one will think up ways to talk about it while appearing to talk about something else, no sirree.πŸ™„
Fascists are so stupid.

@ImagineThat My response to this is a bit long, and I don't want to barrage you with unwelcome opinions, so I'm tossing it in my thread, and you can read it if you wish. πŸ€—
