Democrats pitch No Kings Act to override supreme court’s Trump immunity ruling

Bill would stipulate that Congress, not SCOTUS, has authority to determine to whom federal criminal laws are applied

"Sen. Schumer introduce today to declare explicitly presidents & vice presidents not immune from criminal conduct, overriding SCOTUS ruling Trump has some immunity for actions as president. Bill has > 24 Dem.co-sponsors."

@Gladari This puts GOP senators in an awkward position. They obviously would want this bill to pass if they thought the next president would be a Democrat, not if they thought the next president would be Trump. So voting "Aye" would indicate pessimism about Trump’s chances; voting "Nay" would show optimism, but leave future president Harris unrestrained.

@Gladari It speaks well of the Democrats that they're perfectly willing to curb every president's powers regardless of party.

@ImagineThat

I admit, I was secretly hoping that POTUS Biden would bring out Dark Brandon & do some sh*t with the "immunity". Nothing like having an opponent assassinated, but maybe like an executive order reorganizing SCOTUS (getting that one through Congress will be a hard job).
