While the media certainly makes it seem, with their breathless announcements ("another pol comes out against Biden!") like there's a swelling movement to replace the President, I don't actually get the impression that the campaign is getting any traction where it counts.
Because there's only one person they need to convince, and that's Joe Biden. And playing this game out through the media is exactly the wrong way to do that, as I get the impression he's not a huge fan.

Trying to manipulate public opinion has stalled out, with a lot of people who might have been neutral on Biden coming to his defense after seeing him, as they see it, being attacked simply for being old, an attack that might seem somewhat unfair.
I don't even get the impression that they're trying to get to the delegates, not that that would work, since they're pledged to vote for Biden on the first ballot anyway.
So it all depends on getting Joe Biden to personally decide to quit, but how that's supposed to work through a campaign that's alternated between hostile and condescending is something I do not understand. If you actually wanted this outcome, you'd do it entirely behind the scenes; if you couldn't get to President Joe directly, you'd get to people he trusted. That doesn't include the media.
The only thing this does is create a narrative of division which isn't helpful either way.
@AskTheDevil @DavidSalo Give up? That guy started angling for the presidency fifty years ago, before about a fifth of our Congresscritters were born. Why would he give up now?
@ImagineThat @AskTheDevil
I still remember his '88 campaign and his '08 campaign.
