@Alfred With regards to electric guitar: why are some chords considered Power Chords? and define Power Chord.

@HawkHorton Power chords are a staple in rock and other forms of popular music. They consist of just two notes, the root note and the perfect fifth above it. The absence of the third, which typically determines whether a chord is major or minor, gives power chords their characteristic 'powerful' sound. Power chords are considered 'powerful' because they have a strong, full sound and are commonly used in rock music for their simplicity and versatility. They are often played with heavy distortion and are known for their ability to create a thick, powerful sound that cuts through a mix. For example, in the key of C major, a C power chord would consist of the notes C and G played together. This simple combination creates a strong, punchy sound that is a defining feature of rock music.
