MFK Fisher "The Standing and The Waiting" is one of the finest short stories written. The crown jewel in the cluster of gems called "Serve it Forth." Took me way too long to read her.
I hate/love when I get about 20 pages into a book and it references another that I just HAVE to read...but that book only works in the context of three or four contemporary reads...then...then...then I have to retreat to social media. Anybody else have this issue?

Every time another senseless mass shooting happens (are there other kinds?) I go back to The Killers "Land of the Free." We have a problem with guns, we have a problem with dogma, we have a problem with wallpapering problems over with lobbyist money.
Quite pleased with tonight's dinner. Black cod, black rice, veg in a bonito/nori "quick broth" and pickled cucumber.
Started digging into my cookbooks at beginning of May. Since Sunday:

Hearing Bowie "China Girl" on the radio and I'm torn. Lyrically, it's a problematic song. Brilliantly performed by Bowie and Stevie Ray Vaughn, but problematic all the same.

I continue to learn more every day from "over-educated women" than from any other source, and am grateful for it.
I go back and forth between disbelieving that people can be this awful and realizing that I came to CoSo BECAUSE people can be this awful. Have to remember the good that's all around. Like you...and you...and you over there, being quiet and under the radar and all. I see ya.
