Only a few will get this, I suppose, but shorting stock is like playing the "don't come" line in craps. It's only for assholes.

true, but isn't it funny we have been convinced that don't come is bad, and to not be an asshole we should selectively do the bet with worse odds? Very convenient for the house.

Don't come has slightly better odds though.
